Productivity Fail
Rob Hyodo | September 7, 2008I’ve encountered a roadblock in my productivity. I can’t log into my company laptop!
I need to catch up on work tonight since I took Friday off. I have a MacBook Pro running Parallels which I don’t normally shut down. I just let it go to stand-by. My Windows crashed and when I tried to log in after re-starting Windows, I got:
The system could not log you on. Make sure your User name and domain are correct, then type your password again. Letters in passwords must me typed using the correct case.
I either need to be on the corporate network or logged into the VPN to log in. Unfortunately, I can’t run the VPN client without logging into Windows.
There’s gotta be a way to get in! How else can people work when they’re traveling? I must have missed out on this since I’m an off-site employee and have missed all formal orientations.
All I need is to send a few emails. Easy, right? I use my company phone with email. Wrong! Upon sending email, my phone tells me that my mailbox is full (happens often when I leave for vacation) and I need to delete emails from my desktop. Yeah,… can’t do that until I can log back into my desktop.
Ok, I will resolve tomorrow and find out what I need to do to log in when I’m not connected to the coroporate network.
Update: Cached credentials used to get me in, but after IT made some modifications to my account in the active directory, that doesn’t seem to work any longer.
